The United Nations has officially appointed the iconic Angry Birds character Red to be its newest United Nations Honorary Ambassador for Green.
Ban Ki-moon, United Nation’s secretary-general, introduced Red as its ambassador in a video that launched this year’s #AngryBirdsHappyPlanet, a campaign that aims to promote the organization’s actions towards climate change awareness.
“We are proud to give Red a reason to go Green,” Secretary-General Ban said in an official launching event at the United Nations‘ headquarters in New York. “There is no better way to mark the International Day of Happiness than to have our animated ambassador raise awareness about the importance of addressing climate change to create a safer, more sustainable and happier future for all.”
The South Korean also introduced Red in a promotional video uploaded by the official Angry Birds YouTube channel.
Jason Sudeikis, who voices Red in the upcoming Angry Birds movie, also appeared in a video to promote the partnership between UN and Angry Birds.
