This is not your typical love story.
Tim’s place in Albuquerque, New Mexico is shutting down after five years so that its owner, Tim Harris, can relocate to Denver, Colorado, to be with his girlfriend.
Harris is the only restaurant owner in the country with Down syndrome. Customers are sad to see the place shut down, especially so that he has lived his life for the work.
“My customers cry a lot into my arms,” he told CBS.
Harris is moving so that he can be closer to his girlfriend, Tiffani Johnson, who also has Down syndrome.
The pair met at a Down syndrome convention where Harris was speaking and “Tiffani was stalking.”
In an interview, Johnson said she had been “too scared [to talk to him] because I never met a guy like Tim.”
In true fashion of a classic love story, Johnson recalled, “I think I got hit by the love bug.”
And Harris felt the love bug because he got down one knee and asked her to be his girlfriend (sorry, no marriage proposals just yet).

“Every time I feel sad, my girlfriend makes me feel a lot happier,” Harris said about his girlfriend. “[When I look into her eyes], I see love. I see joy. And I see that I have a future here.”
Though the two may be starting their new chapter together in Denver, saying goodbye to what he knows isn’t easy for Harris.
Here is a sweet video montage Tim made for her.
“It’s incredible to watch,” Harris’ father, Keith, said about the change. “He’s deeply grieving about the idea of this transition, while at the same time being as excited as I’ve ever seen him about the possibility of being with Tiffani.”
And looking at the incredible and warm life Harris has been living, it’s easy to see why Johnson was hit by the love bug.
The website for Tim’s Place says he worked at restaurants as a teenager and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 2008.
It also said that in 2010 his dream of owning his own business came, with the help of his family.
According to the website, “The most sought after item is one that never gets cold, is sweet but not too sweet, guilt free, calorie free, and guaranteed to brighten your day … a free hug from Tim himself.”
Those hugs have made their way to a range of people, including music legend Stevie Wonder and President Barrack Obama.
AOL did a feature on Tim Harris and his restaurant in 2013. Watch it below:
