The famous rapper, songwriter, and actor Ludacris was in Atlanta preparing for the 11th annual Ludaday Weekend, but he also took time to visit one of his biggest fans who was recovering at Shepherd Center. Nineteen-year old Ryley Hooper sustained a spinal cord injury this year after mistakenly diving into the shallow end of a pool, which led him to be paralyzed from the neck down. While recovering at the center, he got an unforgettable surprise visit from his favorite rapper, Ludacris. Hooper got to chat with the rapper and both shared their experience on their Instagram accounts. Hooper was more than happy to be able to spend time with Ludacris.

“What a crazy opportunity to visit with @ludacris today! Thanks for coming through and the good wishes,” Ryley wrote on his Instagram.

Ludacris also posted a photo on Instagram with Hooper and shared how inspired he is by the 19-year old fan.

“He’s only 19 years old and we mostly spoke about how what seems impossible is always possible with the right mindset,” Ludacris said. “He knows this from personal experience because he hasn’t let his set back set him back.”

Best way to start off my week. I met another Hero of mine today and he is one of the strongest minds and spirits I've had the pleasure of talking to in my lifetime. He's only 19 years old and we mostly spoke about how what seems impossible is always possible with the right mindset. He knows this from personal experience because he hasn't let his set back set him back. I salute you @the_hopper97 make sure you follow him and give him some words of encouragement. #loveistheanswer #ludadayweekend2016 repost @shepherdcenter ・・・ Shepherd Center patient Ryley Hopper of Raleigh, N.C., received quite the surprise when one of his favorite artists and actors — @ludacris — came to visit, offering words of encouragement and discussing their favorite installment of the Fast and Furious movie franchise.

It is heartwarming to see both getting inspired by each other’s experiences. This story is only one of the many acts of compassion from the rapper, because aside from being a hip hop recording artist, he is also a certified philanthropist. Ludacris created the Ludacris Foundation back in 2001, which aims to inspire and “help the youth help themselves,” and he continues to be active in supporting numerous charities and causes ranging from poverty, education, disaster relief, environment, to human rights and many more. With all the fame that he has, he never forgets to give back.
